Aces Subdue Jacksonville, 3-1
|
Columbus starter Aurelien Bonello pitched effectively against the Jacksonville Jacks at Skellington Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Bonello, now 7-7. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7. Columbus is now 63-97.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when left fielder Keaton Hewitt hit a single. The Aces went on to win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Bonello, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
