Rhinos Lose to Hops, 7-3
|
The San Diego Hops grabbed a 7-3 win over the Rubber City Rhinos at The Brew Stade. San Diego catcher Addy de Zeeuw went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Salah bin Atif got the win, improving to 15-11. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. Zong-yuan Sang finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Flexing his muscles for San Diego was Nadir Rizvi. The left fielder had a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third for the Hops. It put his team ahead, 4-2, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Rizvi went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It was a solid team effort," said de Zeeuw after the game.
The Hops now have a record of 70-89 with the win over Rubber City.
