Vancouver beat Cabo San Lucas on the strength of starter Qi-chang Ec's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. Garry Strode closed it out for his 42nd save. Vancouver is now 84-75. Cabo San Lucas is 75-84.

Ron Verity came through for Vancouver in the bottom of the first. With one out, Verity victimized Jesús Ramos with a 3-run home run. It was his 26th home run of the season and put Vancouver on top, 3-0.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Verity.
