Earthquakes Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
With shortstop Jorge Zamora leading the charge, the San Francisco Earthquakes defeated the South Carolina Bombers, 7-3, at Golden Gate Park. Zamora, who is tied for 10th in the TML in total bases with 274, went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Carlos Estrada was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. The Bombers have now dropped 5 straight.
Hisaji Maekawa's at-bat in the bottom of the second was significant, coming with the bases loaded and the game tied, 0-0. The San Francisco right fielder hit a 2-run single off Prince Percival Papenfuss to put the Earthquakes up.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said San Francisco manager Julián Flores.
