Sasquatch Win at Columbus, 5-4
|
The rain could not keep the Central Park Downtown Stadium crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
In a close game at Central Park Downtown Stadium, the Seattle Sasquatch edged the Columbus Aces, 5-4. Seattle catcher Kelly Carpenter earned the nod as player of the game. He was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. The winner was Matt Nolan, who threw 102 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits. George Fortin closed it out for his 1st save.
Baden Murphy, who is a five-time All-Star, helped out the Seattle cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the designated hitter went 3-5 with 3 singles.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Sasquatch manager Carl Best. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The Aces, now 7-8, continue their slow start.
