Seattle Sasquatch starter Tadahisa Minami turned in a sterling performance against the Portland Beavers, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. In 8 innings, Minami surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. George Fortin earned his 39th save in 43 tries.
The game was far from mistake-free. In the bottom of the second, the Beavers committed a costly error on a base hit by John Barthe. Seattle scored 2 on the play to take the lead, 2-0.
Afterward, Sasquatch manager Carl Best was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Seattle is 73-81 and Portland, with the loss, 66-88.
