The Havana Stogies downed the Columbus Aces, 14-6, at Central Park Downtown Stadium. The Stogies were led by Silvio Garcia, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Peter Miner picked up the win, improving his season record to 19-6. He struck out 9 in 6.1 innings. The Stogies have now won 4 straight.

Garcia had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-2 fastball from John Stroud, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Stogies a 5-2 lead. It was the 19th home run of the year for Garcia.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Reynaldo Vázquez.
