The umbrellas came out during the New York-Portland contest at Waterfront Park.

Lorenzo Soto never let Portland get something going. The New York left-hander commanded his change up in pitching the Mafia to a 4-0 win. The Beavers, now 6-11, continue their poor start.

In the top of the first, Doug White had a big 2-run double off Rolf Pals. With the double, the New York left fielder put his team in front, 2-0. He went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once in the contest.

"I thought we played a nice game," White told the New York Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
