Maple starter Ze-dong Zhang put a stranglehold on the Kansas City offense. The left-hander had complete command of his forkball in leading the Marauders to a 6-1 win. Zhang went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 9-8. Maple, at 84-61, occupies second place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.

Andreas Kubel had a go-ahead single for Maple in the top of the second inning. With two out and a runner on 2nd, the 25-year old left fielder hit a run-scoring single off Gerard Kotas. His 139th hit of the season made the score 1-0.

"Good win for us," said Kubel. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
