Hornets Jolt Bombers with Late Rally

Fans at Bomber Ballpark were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown South Carolina Bombers take on the Eureka Hornets.
Eureka overcame a superlative game from Ange Schmit to beat South Carolina, 3-1. The South Carolina pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. Elliott Rogers picked up the save for Eureka, his 5th of the year.
Both teams had trouble manufacturing runs. So, Don Buller's at-bat in the top of the eighth was critical. With one out, the Eureka first baseman hit a run-scoring single, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
Afterward, Hornets manager Stephen Jackson was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The first-place Hornets, at 83-62, now lead their division by 5 games.
