Bombers Rally For Late Win Over Mafia
|
South Carolina left-hander Ángel Ruíz helped his team edge New York by the score of 3-2. Ruíz kept the opposing lineup in check. The winning pitcher was Ruíz, now 16-5. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Christian Wallace finished to wrap up his 18th save.
Neither team could produce runs. So, Jesús Dela's at-bat in the top of the eighth was critical. With one out, the South Carolina designated hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
Dela said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
At 83-59, the Bombers have a slim two-game lead in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
