Bombers Throttle Texans, 7-1
|
The South Carolina Bombers went home winners at Bomber Ballpark, thanks in large part to starter Ange Schmit. Schmit silenced the Dallas Texans, enabling South Carolina to grab the 7-1 win. Schmit, now 15-6, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. At 82-58, the Bombers have a slim two-game lead in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
South Carolina third baseman Ken Abbott contributed to the cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the second. For the game, Abbott went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 walks.
"We had a nice day," said South Carolina skipper Randy Huggett.
