Stogies Stay Hot, Beat Tornadoes
|
Starting pitcher Peter Miner pitched well enough to help the Havana Stogies beat the Kansas City Tornadoes by the score of 6-5. In 6.2 innings, Miner surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 4 runs. The first-place Stogies now have a 5-game winning streak.
Trailing 3-1, Havana hopes soared in the top of the fifth inning when the 20-year old shortstop Silvio Garcia lifted a full count fastball into the stands for a 3-run home run. The round-tripper put the Stogies up, 4-3.
"This team is real focused right now," said Havana manager Reynaldo Vázquez.
