Pioneers Deal Beavers Painful Loss
|
Portland got a terrific performance from left fielder Motoyasu Baba, but it wasn't enough to beat the Vancouver Pioneers. Vancouver won the The Royal Court at Jersey Yards contest, 6-5. Baba was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The losses continue to mount for Portland, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
Ross Bullmore provided some late-game heroics for Vancouver. In the bottom of the 12th inning, he hit a run-scoring double. It came on a 1-2 changeup from Pepe Trevino and propelled Vancouver to a 6-5 lead.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Bullmore said.
