Havana got a terrific performance from pitcher Peter Miner, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Diego Hops. San Diego won the The Humidor contest, 4-3. Miner was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. San Diego reliever Zong-yuan Sang was the winner. His record is now 8-5. The losing pitcher was Teguh Suharto. Juan Vázquez was called on to finish, recording his 20th save.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Nadir Rizvi, hit a single. It helped San Diego seize the win.
"It feels good, just a great win all around," Rizvi said after the game.
At 61-75, the Hops find themselves in 5th place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
