Hot Start Continues for Stogies
|
Diego Santiago pitched a gem to lead Havana to a 5-1 victory over the Hawaii Islanders. Santiago picked up the win for Havana, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. The Stogies, now 11-3, have been on fire in the early going.
Reynaldo Aguilera wielded some clout for Havana. The designated hitter had a 3-run home run in the top of the first for the Stogies. It put his team ahead, 3-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Aguilera went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Diego's tempo and rhythm were good," said Stogies manager Reynaldo Vázquez. "He was the key to us winning."
