Earthquakes Pin 6-3 Loss on Hornets
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes picked up a win at Golden Gate Park, knocking off the Eureka Hornets, 6-3. Starting pitcher Carlos Estrada played a key role in the triumph. Kunihiko Mizuno recorded his 10th save for San Francisco. San Francisco occupies last place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division at 53-80.
Jorge Rodríguez had a go-ahead single for San Francisco in the bottom of the third inning. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the 29-year old shortstop hit a 2-run single off Pat Sheffield. His 151st hit of the season made the score 2-0.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Rodríguez told the San Francisco Observer.
