Mafia Continue Skid Thanks to Valdéz, Sasquatch
The Seattle Sasquatch beat the New York Mafia, 7-3, at Sick's Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Francisco Valdéz, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Matt Nolan, the winner, improved to 9-6. He held New York to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. New York now has a 5-game losing streak.

Trailing 1-0, Seattle had a change of fortune in the bottom of the third inning. That's when Ruberto Sucena sent a 1-0 changeup into the stands for a 3-run home run. The longball put the Sasquatch on top, 3-1.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Seattle manager Carl Best.
