Earthquakes Get Past Rubber City for 3-2 Win
|
Fans at The Rubber Grounds were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Rubber City Rhinos take on the San Francisco Earthquakes.
In a low-scoring clash between San Francisco and Rubber City, pitcher Minh-Duc Pamungkas was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned player of the game honors for San Francisco in the 3-2 win. Kunihiko Mizuno picked up the save for San Francisco, his 8th of the year.
The game hit a turning point in the top of the ninth inning, when the Earthquakes were trailing 2-1. Jorge Zamora delivered a two-out 2-run home run for San Francisco, catapulting his team into the lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said San Francisco skipper Julián Flores. "I can't complain."
With the victory, the Earthquakes record now stands at 51-79.
