Oliver Romero pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Bloomington Blazers, despite Romero's fine outing, dropped a 2-0 decision to the Portland Beavers at Waterfront Park. Portland is now 57-74. Bloomington is 69-62.

With runs few and far between, the Beavers had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Portland came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when right fielder Motoyasu Baba delivered a solo home run. The home run was hit off Oliver Romero and made the score 1-0, Beavers. Baba was 1 for 4 with a home run.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Baba.
