Toreros Win Thriller, 7-4
|
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros got a hard-earned win over the New York Mafia, 7-4, in 17 innings. Jorge Rodríguez provided some offensive muscle for Cabo San Lucas. He was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Cabo San Lucas reliever Cristoforo Giugino picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Lex Herrewijn absorbed the loss. The 5th-place Toreros now have a win-loss record of 57-73.
Pete Rowland dealt the Mafia a crippling blow in the bottom of the 17th. With the game tied and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a walk-off 3-run home run. The longball gave Cabo San Lucas the lead, 7-4. New York pitcher Lex Herrewijn could only shake his head in disbelief.
"Put a star next to this win," Rodríguez said.
