The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at The Rubber Grounds enjoyed themselves.
The Rubber City Rhinos defeated the Portland Beavers, 7-4, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Rubber Grounds. Mike Davis received player of the game honors. The 10-year veteran went 2 for 3 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The Beavers fall to 5-9 and continue their lackluster start in 2032.
A defensive miscue in the bottom of the seventh cost the Beavers. With Rubber City leading 5-4, Billy Joel reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. Rubber City ended up winning the ballgame.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Joel. "But I like how we're playing right now."
