Jacks Lose to Bombers, 8-5
|
Jacksonville catcher Ángel Vázquez was sensational. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. South Carolina beat the Jacks, 8-5. Vázquez was named the player of the game despite the loss. Beau Miller got the win, improving to 11-6. He worked 8 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Christian Wallace earned his 15th save in 18 tries.
Jesús Dela, who is a three-time All-Star, aided the South Carolina cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first. For the game, the catcher went 2-4 with 2 singles.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Dela told the South Carolina Daily News.
The second-place Bombers improved to 75-53.
