Marauders Stumble, Lose to Bombers
|
South Carolina starter Ange Schmit kept the Maple hitters in check, helping his team cruise to a 9-2 win. Schmit got the win, improving to 13-6. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. Schmit allowed 2 earned runs. South Carolina is second in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division with a record of 73-53.
Flexing his muscles for South Carolina was Zhao-ying Gai. The left fielder had a 2-run home run in the top of the second for the Bombers. It put his team ahead, 2-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Gai went 1 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
"We looked pretty good up and down," said South Carolina manager Randy Huggett.
