The Quebec Armada picked up a win at Lucky 7 Ballpark, knocking off the Kansas City Tornadoes, 5-1. Starting pitcher Mitsuo Kobayashi, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Kobayashi, now 1-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. At 2-0, the Armada have played well so far.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Lyle Simmons was at the plate when Quebec scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Armada to go in front, 2-1.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Quebec manager Jorge Morales. "It's usually not just one thing."
