Torres Stars in Pioneers Win
|
The Vancouver Pioneers thumped the Bloomington Blazers, 8-0, at The Royal Court at Jersey Yards. Ruben Torres was a big reason his team got the win. Torres was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Vancouver starter Qi-chang Ec was credited with the win after throwing 95 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 10-6. Mitsuharu Shionoya was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
In the bottom of the first, Torres had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run double off Loeck Jurgens that staked the Pioneers to a 2-0 lead.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Javier Ramírez.
The Pioneers improved to 68-57.
