The Eureka Hornets beat the Kansas City Tornadoes, 4-2, at Debris Field. The Hornets got a fine performance from first baseman Don Buller, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Eureka improves to 74-51 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
With the game tied, 0-0, in the top of the second, Buller had a key at-bat for Eureka. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Buller, who is rated as the 22nd best prospect by BNN, hit a 3-run home run off Clay Melsom, making the score 3-0, Hornets.
After the game, Eureka manager Stephen Jackson applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
