|
Columbus right-hander Yeijiro Suzuki pitched his team to victory over the Jacksonville Jacks at Central Park Downtown Stadium. The final score was 5-3. Suzuki went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-6. Amaui Mahi'ai got the save, his 28th in 30 chances.
Michael Fitzgerald provided some punch for the Aces. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd and Columbus trailing 2-1, he lit into a fastball from Landy Lu, sending it out of the park. The 3-run homer put the Aces up, 4-2.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Columbus manager Chris Schell. "It's usually not just one thing."
Columbus is in 5th place in the Roberto Clemente League William Atteberry Division with a record of 51-72.
