Matsumoto Lifts Stogies to 7-2 Win
|
The exploits of first baseman Kohei Matsumoto, who was drafted in the two round of the 2023 draft, helped the Havana Stogies defeat the Brooklyn Black Knights, 7-2. Matsumoto went 2 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Abdul Razzaq Kharoti picked up the save for Havana, his 3rd of the year. The Stogies have now won 8 straight.
Matsumoto was 2-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 against the Black Knights. With the game tied in the bottom of the second inning, he hit a 2-run home run that scored 2 and put Havana in front, 2-0.
"I expect to carry this team on my shoulders at times," said Matsumoto.
