Earthquakes Come Up Short at Bloomington
Bloomington beat San Francisco at Celestrial Fields at Hermann Park, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to center fielder Arnold Layne, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Bloomington reliever Yoshiaga Rin picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-1. Noriyuki Ikeda was collared with the loss. Paco Berroa locked down his 3rd save.

Bloomington designated hitter Camden Mansel helped the Blazers to the win. In the bottom of the second inning, the 26-year old first baseman stroked a run-scoring single. For the game, Mansel went 1-4.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Bloomington skipper Javier Ramírez. "It's important to have different ways to do it."

The Blazers, at 62-59, sit in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
