Stogies Come Back Late to Clip Mafia
|
With designated hitter Oscar Jones leading the charge, the Havana Stogies defeated the New York Mafia, 8-5, at Don Corleone Park. Jones was 2-4 with a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Teguh Suharto earned the save for Havana, his 43rd of the year. The first-place Stogies have won 5 consecutive games.
Jones had an impressive at-bat with the game on the line. In the top of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he hit a 2-2 curveball from Aubert Licci for a bases-clearing double. Just like that, the Stogies took the lead, 7-5.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Jones.
