Brooklyn and Columbus took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

Todd McCarthy was instrumental in his team's 7-4 triumph over the Columbus Aces. The right fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Brooklyn Black Knights. Brooklyn starter Clarence Byrd was credited with the win after throwing 107 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 12-6. Earning his 31st save of the year was Ti-an Dan.

McCarthy contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Brooklyn in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, McCarthy took a sinker from Chris Riddle and stroked the home run to right-center. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Black Knights to leap in front, 2-1.

"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said McCarthy.

The third-place Black Knights lifted their record to 68-50.
