Stogies Roll Over Aces, 9-4
|
Havana and Columbus got after it at Central Park Downtown Stadium.
The Havana Stogies topped the Columbus Aces by the score of 9-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Arturo Velásquez. Velásquez was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Stogies on the day. Diego Santiago got the win, improving to 12-4. He held the Aces to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 6.
Velásquez contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the third. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a run-scoring double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Havana get the win.
"We'll savor this win," Velásquez told the Havana Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
The Stogies improved to a lofty 84-34.
