Cabo San Lucas pitcher Ashley Heath did his part in helping his team beat the Maple Marauders, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Heath went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 5, and struck out 4. His record improves to 9-5. Cabo San Lucas is now 51-64, while Maple is 68-45.
There were several reasons the Toreros beat the Marauders, but one factor was Jorge Rodríguez. In the top of the first, the Cabo San Lucas designated hitter came to bat and hit a 2-run home run. It staked his team to a 2-0 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Cabo San Lucas skipper Matt Johnson.
