Aces Stumble, Lose to Mafia
The New York Mafia beat the Columbus Aces, 9-3, at Central Park Downtown Stadium. The Mafia got a fine performance from designated hitter Doug White, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Lorenzo Soto got the win, improving to 5-11. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 12 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. The Mafia saw their record improve to 39-77.

White hit a 2-run home run in the top of the first to help the New York cause. The home run, which was hit off Takeshi Gato, allowed New York to take a 2-0 lead.

"They played a better game than we did," said Columbus skipper Chris Schell.
