Young slugs 2 home runs as Pioneers Squeeze Past South Carolina
|
The Vancouver Pioneers beat the South Carolina Bombers, 6-5 at Bomber Ballpark, in part due to left fielder Joe Young, who nabbed player of the game honors. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The Bombers, at 3-8, have stumbled out of the gate.
One significant at-bat for Vancouver came with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the sixth. Pioneers right fielder Tobias Zeiler hit a run-scoring single, which helped Vancouver go on to win.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Zeiler told the Vancouver Times.
