Black Knights Come Up Short at Hawaii
|
Tomás Bravo pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Brooklyn Black Knights, despite Bravo's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Hawaii Islanders at Aloha Stadium. The winner was Hawaii reliever Keith Martin, now 6-0. The loser was Tomás Bravo. The second-place Islanders now have a win-loss record of 70-43.
Also making an impact was third baseman Rico Madrigal, who drilled a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Islanders. For the game, Madrigal was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Hawaii manager Leland Ray said.
