Beavers Lose, 4-1, at Skellington Stadium
|
Jacksonville pitcher Walt Lawson did his part in helping his team beat the Portland Beavers, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 7.1 innings, Lawson surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Jacksonville, now 48-61, holds 4th place in the Roberto Clemente League William Atteberry Division.
Stanley Comiskey took Jian-guo Yang deep in the bottom of the fifth. His solo home run put the Jacks in front, 2-1. For the game, Comiskey was 1 for 4 with a home run.
"Walt was Walt," said Jacks manager Daniel Dumas. "We know what we'll get whenever he takes the mound."
