The Hawaii Islanders topped the San Diego Hops, 4-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Brew Stade. The player of the game was Hawaii pitcher Norogumi Yokoyama. The win was credited to Keith Martin in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Juan Vázquez took the loss. Hidetada Abe was credited with the save for Hawaii, his 5th of the season.
Hawaii took a 4-3 lead on Zane Mogeni's 138th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Mogeni hit in the top of the tenth, left San Diego pitcher Juan Vázquez visibly frustrated.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Leland Ray, the Hawaii manager.
The Islanders have an impressive 68-42 record.
