Zhou slugs 2 home runs, Leads Islanders to Win
|
The Hawaii Islanders beat the So Cal Republic, 10-5, at House of the Republic. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Xiao-xuan Zhou, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The second-place Islanders are now 66-40, the Republic 66-40.
In the top of the fourth inning, Hawaii got a break when Zhou went to the plate. With no outs, runners on 1st and 2nd and the Islanders leading 5-1, Zhou hit a 3-run home run.
"Good win for us," said Zhou. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
