Rollins Shines in Pioneers Win
The Vancouver Pioneers beat the Kansas City Tornadoes, 13-4, at Debris Field. The Pioneers got a fine performance from shortstop Dan Rollins, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Mitsuharu Shionoya earned his 2nd save in 4 chances. The Pioneers, at 53-52, sit in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.

Ron Verity delivered a big hit for the Pioneers. The veteran third baseman belted a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh. The longball put Vancouver on top, 9-3. Overall, Verity went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Rollins.
