In a tight contest at Celestrial Fields at Hermann Park, the Eureka Hornets edged the Bloomington Blazers by the score of 8-7. Eureka center fielder Dennis Mayne, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Ashoka Pancholi was credited with the save for Eureka, his 30th of the season. The third-place Blazers have lost 5 consecutive games.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when third baseman George Bowman, who is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner, drew a walk. The Hornets went on to win.

"We maximized our offense today," said Eureka skipper Stephen Jackson. "That makes everyone's life easier."
