Marauders Get One-Run Win at Portland
|
Félix Reina pitched well, but the Portland Beavers still lost the game, falling 2-1 to the Maple Marauders at Waterfront Park. The winner was Umarah Abdul-Quddus, who threw 73 pitches over 5.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 6 hits. Marcos León earned the save, his 21st, for the Marauders.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fifth, with the game tied, Jae-hoon Park was at the plate when Maple scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Marauders to go in front, 2-1.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Park.
Maple leads the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division by 5 games.
