The San Francisco Earthquakes got a stellar performance from pitcher Edgardo Sáenz, who handcuffed the San Diego offense en route to a 5-2 win at The Brew Stade. San Francisco now owns a record of 39-62.
It could have been a different outcome for San Francisco, had it not been for Jorge Rodríguez, the 29-year old shortstop . Rodríguez contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put San Francisco up, 3-0.
Rodríguez called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
