López Excels, San Francisco Blows Out Portland
|
San Francisco and Portland met at Golden Gate Park in front of a lively crowd.
The San Francisco Earthquakes got production from their entire lineup in an easy 13-3 win over the Portland Beavers. Player of the game honors went to first baseman Juan López. López, who is tied for 6th in the TML in extra base hits with 39, went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Noriyuki Ikeda earned the win for San Francisco. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2.
Luis Álvarez took Felipe De La Hoya deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Earthquakes in front, 2-0. For the game, Álvarez went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2.
"We all want to win," said López. "We all want to do our part."
San Francisco is now 37-61.
