Layne slugs 2 home runs to Power Blazers Offense
|
Bloomington right fielder Arnold Layne made his presence felt in the 8-5 Blazers triumph over the San Diego Hops. Layne belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Yoshiaga Rin, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. Davis Marés earned his 1st save in 1 tries.
The Blazers got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Camden Mansel. For the game, Mansel was 1 for 1. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 80th hit of the season gave Bloomington a 6-5 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Bloomington manager Javier Ramírez.
The 4th-place Blazers now have a 6-game winning streak.
