Islanders Get Road Win, 4-3
|
The Hawaii Islanders topped the Georgia Grays, 4-3, with youngster Katsuhiko Shimizu playing a key role. Shimizu was 3 for 4 with 3 singles for the Islanders in the win. The second-place Islanders have won 4 in a row.
Had Shimizu not come through in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Shimizu hit a run-scoring single. The Islanders never looked back after taking the 4-3 lead.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Islanders manager Leland Ray, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
