Almost There: So Cal On Cusp of R3 Triumph After 7-2 Win
|
The So Cal Republic moved to within one game of the ABL World Series today, downing the Hawaii Islanders on the road at Aloha Stadium by a score of 7-2. Republic left-hander Tanner Johnson was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Republic a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Pennant.
Zeus Mayhem made it 6-2 in favor of So Cal when he delivered a grand slam home run. It came with one out in the top of the eighth. The Republic went on to win.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Johnson told the So Cal Daily.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Honolulu. Slated to start are Elias Bowen for the So Cal Republic and Rodrigo Garza for the the Hawaii Islanders.
