Beavers Get One-Run Win at San Francisco
|
The Portland Beavers grabbed a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Earthquakes at Golden Gate Park. Portland catcher Ralph Blair was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Reliever Olivier Martin picked up the win. His record improves to 2-3. Si-hun Park took the loss. Tim Stady Jr. finished the game for Portland and earned his 14th save.
This game was not decided until late. With two out in the top of the ninth, Teruo Sato reached on catcher's interference. The Beavers took the lead, 5-4.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Blair.
San Francisco's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
