Toreros Take Down Earthquakes, 9-7
|
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros outlasted Ruben Estrada and the San Francisco Earthquakes, 9-7. Estrada was impressive in the loss. The San Francisco third baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Cabo San Lucas reliever Ramón Gonzáles picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jo-hsi Sang absorbed the loss. Paco Berroa earned the save, his 5th.
Lúcio Nájera had a big 2-run single for the Toreros in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cabo San Lucas trailing 4-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Jin-woo Pi and stroked the single to left. It was his 50th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Toreros ahead, 4-3.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Nájera said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Toreros.
